I voluuntered one month in the Kite Surf Center working with Naveh and Yal. Both have been really incredible with me and I had a great time there ! I helped them with welcoming the clients and handling the reservations and the hostel. The work was easy and only few hours per day. In exchange I lived with them in the Kite Surf Center and they made sure I had the best time in Ometepe, introducing me to their friends and bringing me to nice events and places every day. We become a family! The Kite surf center is a very chill and nice spot in a central area of Ometepe. Both Naveh and Yal are very good instructors, super cool guys, funny and very supportive and professional at the same time. I rented equipment and really enjoyed my time there. Helpful and friendly staff. The spot is very onshore with an amazing view, freshwater & shallow beach area. There's a 2nd school close by which is a bit cheaper! I picked this one here because I used to own a Core kite which they also use here (XR and Nexus), I just love their hang time and agility! I spent 4 days and had 3 days of good wind (roughly ~18-23kn I would guess). You should know that it is a morning spot in December and wind tends to decrease during midday. I don't know about other times of the year, maybe it's similar. I didn't do a course as I mentioned, but the teaching seemed of good quality to me when I watched it. ~ Philipp K

Great spot, great kite school and team. I had a really good time, spent four days on Ometepe and rented equipment. The team explains everything patiently and helps with launch/landing (which seems a bit tricky at first, but is actually quite simple). You kite between the two volcanoes in the freshwater Lake Nicaragua. Could it be any more beautiful? 🌋 and it was never really crowded. The wind was always perfect in the mornings during my trip (7:30 a.m. to around 11:00 a.m.), which was cool. A great start to the day, followed by a relaxed exploration of the island. I had 5 kitesurflessons which were all great! Leo is a very kind and good instructor. I felt safe all the time. I could easily adjust the timing of the lessons last minute if I wanted to. The gear they have is of great quality (Core, Mystic etc). The vibe was chilled. Almost everyday the wind was stable and flat water with some small waves and just 2-5 people at the whole lake, perfect conditions to start learning riding/transitions etc! If the wind dropped down or if it started raining we just waited en the lesson time got ‘paused’ meanwhile. Naveh was very kind and good in communication. I would come back for sure! ~ HW

Very professional kite surfing instructors. Naveh and Roman are the best! Also the rest of the crew very friendly, helpful and patient. We did a course of 12 hours and managed to stand on the board in our last lesson. We are very excited about the sport and all because of the good energy of the team! About the kite surf spot: The wind on Ometepe is good and in days when there is less wind, we could easily reschedule to another day. The place is good for beginners (also saw experienced kite surfers renting gear here). Some waves in the lake, but nothing to be worried about. Thank you so much. ~ Savannah S

Mig og min kæreste havde en fantastisk uge på Ometepe hvor vi lærte at kite surfe hos Ometepe Kitesurf center! Vi havde ingen erfaring inden vi startede og efter 9,5 time kunne vi begge køre både højre og venstre. Vi havde en fantastisk oplevelse med deres dygtige instruktøre! Great spot to kitesurf between the two volcanos with an amazing view. There aren‘t many people so you have a lot of space. However, there is onshore wind so you should be able to go upwind, but therefore you always have the nice view. The guys from the kiteschool are really nice, super helpful and watch out for your safety. They also help you every time to start and land the kite because there is not much space at the beach. I have rented material, which was in good condition. They have a lot of core kites. ;) Definitely a unique place and would recommend kiting here. ~ Philipp S

Grandiose Kitespot mit konstantem Wind und super Conditions für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene. Ich habe mir 2 Stunden 1A-Material ausgeborgt und die Zeit am Wasser so richtig genossen. Das Team vom kitesurf Center ist kompetent und sehr bemüht! Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. ~ Paul P

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit hier beim Kitencenter auf Ometepe. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und die Stimmung in der Kiteschule ist top. Der Spot ist gut für Anfänger geeignet und es sind für einen solchen Spot nie viele Kites auf dem Wasser. Mega. Die Kitelehrer finden eine super Balance zwischen einem lockeren Ton und präzisen Anweisungen um dich weiter zu bringen. Wir können die Kiteschule absolut weiter empfehlen. Eigentlich ein Muss wenn man auf Ometepe ist🤙 ~ Krister P

This was my first time kitesurfing with no prior knowledge about it. I took a 6 hour course, split into 3 hours for 2 days. It was a thrilling challenge and I really enjoyed learning the theory and techniques used in kite surfing. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. My instructor was very good at explaining, demonstrating and then assisting me with everything throughout the course. This was such a joyful experience for me and extremely fun. I highly recommend to surf here in Ometepe and I would come back again. ~ Anna M

My friend and I came especially to Ometepe island to learn kitesurfing, and we couldnt be happier about this place! The kiteschool has a really nice vibe, the teachers are good, and for us the most surprising thing: the great conditions! There are almost no kitesurfers, which makes it a great place to learn it. The wind is also always good, going on land. All of this together we would absolutely recommend everybody to go here to go kitesurfing and enjoy the rest of the island the rest of the time. I had an amazing time with the crew of Ometepe Kitesurf Center. We originally only wanted to stay a couple of days but then the wind and spot were so good that we stayed two weeks. Together with Ramona I finally got to ride independently and won’t need a teacher from now on. The school is super accommodating and it’s so chill to hang out and chat afterwards. We came as strangers and leave as friends. Thank you so much we will be back again some day. Oh and their T-Shirts are the coolest souvenir 🤩 ~ Jana K

I’ve never done kitesurfing before but wanted to give it a try. I texted them in the evening and could starr the next day - I guess that’s subject to availability. Because I had limited time available i only wanted to do 2 hours instead of the full course. I had a private lesson with Naveh, who adapted the lesson for me so I could get the best experience. I had a blast - I liked it so much that I even squeezed in another 2 hours in the morning of the following day. Thanks Naveh for your patience! :) ~ Fiona E

Habe ein paar ein paar Stunden zur Auffrischung genommen. Trainer waren super nett und haben mich genau auf meinem Niveau abgeholt. Nase, Magen und Lunge sind wieder mit Seewasser aufgefüllt aber ich hatte trotzdem super viel Spaß :) ~ Daniel N

Amazing kitesurfing experience! 🔥 If you want the best kitesurfing experience, you should definitely go visit Ometepe Kite center. Naveh and Loui is the best instructors. I did 5 lessons with the guys, and every lesson we got though new information about kitesurfing. Their structure of the lessons were amazing! In the evening we all went out for dinner together like a “kitesurf-family”, there was such a good vibe between all the kite surfers at the center! Loved this place! Go go go! ~ Caroline W

The Ometepe Kitesurf Center is dope! Amazing place to learn to kitesurf or just to rent gear and practice. All the instructors and staff are professional, knowledgeable, and just generally stoked and happy people. I immediately felt like a part of the crew which is pretty rad when traveling solo. The beach itself has strong, consistent wind, ideal water depth, and essentially no rocks; perfect for a newbie like me. If you visit Ometepe, definitely check this place out. ~ Schuyler W

I recently took a kitesurfing course and it was a really great experience. The instructor(s) were friendly, encouraging patient, and very experienced. They took the time to explain everything thoroughly, both on the beach and in the water. I liked how the lessons where structured clearly and adjusted to my pace. I made good progress and feel way more confident on the water. And let's not forget the view of the Vulcano while being in the water is amazing. ~ Marloes S
